               To make our “Career Day” a valuable experience for the children we are asking for representatives of many different jobs and careers.

 

               If you, or a friend, relative or acquaintance, would be willing to share a career experience with our children, give us your name or the name of the person you are recommending and the telephone number or email where they can be contacted.

Hi Everyone —

For those who have already sent in your contribution — THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!  

In order for us to make decisions for the 4 events planned, please send in your contribution tomorrow, along with your child’s T-shirt order. We are suggesting $65/child. You can access the flyer that was also distributed in your child’s backpack here:

Picture Day IS MONDAY, MAY 4
6th and 5th Grades
 
We will be taking 2 pictures on this day, a picture of the entire 6th grade class and a picture of the entire 5th grade class.  Please send your child in to school dressed in white top and black or dark bottoms.  Weather permitting, the pictures will be taken outside.
Since this is a group picture, please make every effort to be present and on time on this day.

Final 3 Days — PA 101 Parent Survey

Dear PS 101 Parent,

Let’s be honest…not everyone can come to PA meetings. So please tell us what you think.

Your opinion matters.

One way to improve what the PA does for our children, our school and our community is to find out how you feel about what we are doing. 

For example, the PA currently spends a good portion of its budget on residencies. Residencies are PA sponsored programs aimed at enhancing our students’ education. Residencies typically focus on the arts, STEM or wellness and run for 7 to 8 weeks. Your feedback on whether this is important to you (or not) and which type of residencies interest you (and your children) will help us allocate our budget.

Answers are 100% anonymous.

STATE TESTING:  State testing will continue this week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A reminder that parents are not permitted in the school building during state testing days until after 12:30pm. Please be respectful of this request. Thank you.

 

Kindergarten Registration: For parents who have a child entering Kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year, you should have received your acceptance letter. Please remember that you need to register your child at the school by May 6, 2015.

Staff Appreciation Event: Tuesday, May 5th
The PA will be hosting our annual Staff Appreciation Event in two weeks. We need volunteers for set up form 1:00pm to 2:30pm, during the actual event from 2:30pm to 4:00pm and for clean up from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
 
This is a wonderful way to show the all the staff at PS 101 how much we appreciate the work that they do. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Maria Kaufer.
 
Schoola Is So Coola! We were able to raise close to $1,000 for the PA from your donation of clothes to Schoola. Thank you so much to those who donated. For those interested in learning more about the program, please visit Schoola.

 

Wellness Fair, Saturday, May 9th
The PA will be hosting a Wellness Fair on Saturday, May 9th at the school. The flyer is below. There will be vendors there focused on health and well being. You may also rent a table for $30 to sell your wares if you are spring cleaning. For more information, please contact Fadia Mohama.

Thank you Kindergarten parents for your generosity during the Holiday Giving Campaign. Because Kindergarten had the highest giving participation rate of any grade in the school, each Kindergarten class will enjoy a special 30 minute Science Show with Vinny Voltage tomorrow.

The PA meeting tomorrow is an important one! Please plan on attending.

Candidate Forum: Candidates who are running for PA Board positions or open SLT positions will be invited to speak for 3 minutes about their qualifications and goals for their desired positions. Candidate bios will be distributed closer to election time in May. This is a great way to meet the people who will be leading the PA and SLT next year.

2015-16 PA Budget: The proposed budget for the next school year will be discussed and distributed tomorrow. If you are interested in how PA money is spent, be sure to come and hear about our plans for next year.
