The Shoe Drive Was A HUGE Success! 

A BIG thank you to everyone for helping out with our 2nd annual shoe drive. It was another successful year. As a school we collected 1,344 pairs of shoes. Congratulations to the top 3 classes who have won an ice cream party:
  • Class 131 with 282 pairs of shoes
  • Class 101 with 160 pairs of shoes
  • Class 531 with 112 pairs of shoes

PALP: Thank you parents for coming in on Friday and participating in Parents As Learning Partners. The students love having you in the classroom!

Ballroom Dancing: Grades 4 & 5 continued with their ballroom dancing residency.

Swim For Life: Class 203 continued with Swim For Life this week.

Career Day – Friday, May 29th @ 8:45am: Share a career experience with our children! We welcome parents, friends, relatives or acquaintances who are willing to share their time. You will be asked to share your career experience with your child’s classroom and potentially one other classroom. Each presentation should last about 20
minutes.

PA Meeting, Tuesday May 19th @ 6:30pm

Budget vote, by-law amendment, ratification of PA Board and SLT positions for next year…and more. Please plan on attending. Child care is provided free of charge.
 
Wellness Fair: The Wellness Fair last Saturday was a huge success. We would like to thank all those who participated and attended the event and ta special thank you to K parent, Fadia Mohama, for running the event.
 
We Need Help Packing Schoola Boxes: Families once again donated a lot of clothing for Schoola. We need help packing up boxes so the items can be shipped and sold by Schoola. All those available to help, please meet in the rotunda at 9am on Tuesday, May 19th. The more hands, the lighter the work.

Parent Workshop: Summer Learning –  Tuesday, May 19th @ 9:00am, 90-27 Sutphin Blvd, Jamiaca, NY

To help parents bridge the gap in their child’s learning between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next one, this workshop provide parents with tips for meaningful, educational summer activities for their child. We will also discuss various museums and cultural institutions that offer free and low cost summer programming for students.

Students Entering 4th & 5th Grade: Begin the G&T Placement Process – Applications Accepted May 11th thru 22nd

If your child is entering fourth or fifth grade in the 2015-2016 school year, you can start the admissions process for placement in citywide and district Gifted & Talented programs. Parents of eligible children may submit a Request for Placement (RFP) in person at a Family Welcome Center beginning on Monday.

Creative Challenge in 3D Printing
Sunday, May 17th
RPGA is holding its 2015 Creative Challenge in 3D Printing for kids in after school programs in the tristate area this coming Sunday, May 17th, and you’re invited! It is free and open to the public. The event takes place at PS 175 (64-35 102nd St, Rego Park.)
