Names for Diplomas

Need Preferred Name for Diplomas

Hi Everyone —

Our parent volunteer, Robin Oksenhendler, is working to meet the deadline to finalize and print the diplomas.  For the 5th and 6th graders who are graduating, we are using the name you provided to the DOE when you registered your child in the school.  However, if you would like a different version of your child’s name on the diploma (for example, though your child’s formal name is Thomas Jones, you’d like the diploma to say Tom Jones), please respond to this email with the name by FRIDAY, JUNE 12.

Class Parents — please check your distribution lists and make sure that any families that have not provided an email address receive a copy of this notice in their backpacks.

Please understand that we can only accommodate modifications of your child’s name if we receive your message by the deadline of Friday, June 12.

Thank you so much!

Happenings

Family International Dinner: This event was a HUGE success! We had close to 300 adults and students attend. We want to thank EVERYONE who attended and contributed the delicious food that we all enjoyed. Also, applause to all those students who participated in the Parade of Cultures.

A special thank you to the event chairs Cynthia Mandelbaum, Mary Beth Bentaha and Terri Gordon as well as those who contributed significantly to the event: Maria Kaufer, Christine Memoli, Amal Ajam, Katie Laatikainen, JP Freeley and Tom Renna.

Italian Ice Party: Today was Italian Ice day. We broke routine and had it delivered to classrooms so kids could have gym classes.  We researched and found Marino’s is void of the 8 most common allergens.  We had lemon for all kids so they wouldn’t stain their clothes and from what I hear, it was a fun time in each class. Thanks to Christine Chong-Lin for spearheading and to all the parent volunteers for delivering!

End of Year Festivities VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

6th/5th Grade End-of-Year Festivities
Calling All Volunteers!

Hi Everyone —

With just about 2 weeks away from the 6th/5th grade Dance, we need to gather help to set up and facilitate.  NEEDED FOR DANCE:

  • 2 parents with cars to help pick up food the morning of Friday, June 19
  • 8 parents to set up, serve and facilitate the Dance, Friday, June 19 starting at 8:30am, ending at 2:30
  • If you have a special dish you’d like to provide to give the event a personal touch, feel free to let us know at endofyear@pa101.org and we’ll be happy to include it in our menu.
  • We need MANY volunteers for decorating
    • Assembling decorative elements on June 17 (Time TBD)
    • Gym Thursday, June 18 (Time TBD, but most likely after school)

For some of us, these are the last big events of our children’s time at 101 — let’s show up and share one last hurrah of community and friendship — and make memories for all of us!  Contact us at endofyear@pa101.org to volunteer.

Special thanks to

Donna, Steven Mazza’s mom, for taking on the graphic project for the students’ gift to the school.

Lisa, Matt Duca’s mom, and Dorothy, James Lee’s mom, for volunteering to set up for the events and wrap gifts.

Nicole, Sascha Pearlstein’s mom, for volunteering to help wrap gifts.

Orsolya, Jamie Klein’s mom, and Liana, Michael Berman’s mom, for volunteering to help out with decorations.

Jeannie, Olivia Rikabi’s mom, for volunteering to proofread the program and diplomas and wrap gifts.

Liana — for donating pigs-in-a-blanket for the Dance.

Isabella Gomez’s family for donating the pastries from La Dolce Italia for our Graduation Reception.

and Karina, Imanol Salamanca’s mom, for volunteering to bake the Graduation cake/cupcakes for our Graduation Reception.

We need many more to help with set up, decorating, and is there anyone interested in taking photographs during the dance?

If you have an idea to share, let a committee member know or feel free to contact us at endofyear@pa101.org

Thank you so much!
